Delete my data

You can remove your information from RealShare at any time. There are two different things you might want, so start by picking the right one.

If you just want us to stop posting

Disconnecting a channel is instant and you do it yourself. Sign in, go to Connections, and press Disconnect on the channel you want to remove.

That immediately:

  • deletes the stored access token for that channel
  • ends our ability to publish anything on your behalf there
  • cancels anything we were holding for that channel while it waited to be reconnected

Any post you had already scheduled to that channel will fail when its turn comes, and tell you the channel is not connected. That is expected, not a fault. If you would rather it did not happen at all, delete those scheduled posts before you disconnect.

Your account and everything else you have made stays where it is. This is the right choice if you are still using RealShare and only want one channel gone.

If you want your account and data deleted

Email support@realshare.co.za from the address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account.

Sending it from your own account address is how we confirm the request is really from you. If you cannot use that address any more, say so and we will find another way to verify you, because we are not going to delete an account on the word of a stranger.

When it is done, we email you to confirm. It usually takes a few days, and never more than 30 days.

What gets deleted

  • your account, name, email address and password
  • your profile, including your phone numbers, logo and headshot
  • every listing you imported, and the photographs stored with it
  • every post, caption, brochure and video generated for you
  • your schedules, and any post still waiting to go out
  • your channel connections and the encrypted access tokens behind them
  • your performance figures and usage counts

What we cannot delete

Posts already published to your own channels. Once a post is on your Facebook Page, your Instagram account, your X profile, your YouTube channel or your TikTok account, it belongs to that account and lives on that platform. It is your marketing, on your channel, and we have no way to reach back and remove it after your connection is gone. You can delete those posts yourself on the platform, and it is worth doing that before you ask us to delete your account, while the connection still exists.

What we have to keep

  • The security log, which records sign ins, password changes, channels being connected or disconnected, listings being added, changed or deleted, and posts being published, together with the email address used at the time and the listing's title or web address. It is how we investigate a break in attempt or prove what happened to an account, so it has to survive the account it describes. It holds no passwords, no tokens, and none of your photos, captions or post text.
  • Financial records, for five years, because South African tax and company law requires it. This is limited to what an invoice needs: who paid, how much and when.
  • Encrypted backups, for up to twelve months. Your data is removed from the live service immediately. We keep a nightly snapshot of the database for thirty days and one snapshot a month for a year, so a copy of your information can sit inside a snapshot until the last one holding it is deleted. Nothing is ever restored from a backup into the live service after a deletion.

Removing RealShare from Facebook and Instagram

Disconnecting inside RealShare stops us using your Facebook or Instagram account. You can also revoke it from Facebook's own side, which is worth doing if you want to be certain nothing is left:

  1. Open Facebook and go to Settings and privacy, then Settings.
  2. Choose Apps and websites.
  3. Find Realshare in the list.
  4. Choose Remove, and tick the option to delete the posts and activity the app created if Facebook offers it.

Doing this on Facebook's side also covers Instagram, because the Instagram connection runs through the same Facebook permission.

If you remove it there without telling us, our connection to that channel simply stops working and any scheduled posts to it will fail. That is expected, not a fault.
